About the

North Texas Innovation Alliance

The purpose of the NTXIA is to develop a network that recognizes that the duty to support citizens doesn’t stop at municipal borders, and there is a timely opportunity to make North Texas a leader in implementing integrated smart cities efforts that cross geographic boundaries. No single entity, whether company, community, or academic institution, possesses all the expertise and skillsets needed for sound growth initiatives. A best-minds approach to the consortium makes subject matter expertise amongst partners available for counsel on collective and individual initiatives.

By establishing a regional consortium, the NTXIA will work to identify and collaboratively address barriers that inhibit sustainability, efficiency, growth and quality of life. A regionally-focused strategy will serve as a national model and ultimately help create standards and policy-driven initiatives that serve the needs of all citizens across North Texas and put power into the hands of the municipalities that serve them.

As we have continued to refine our vision and focus to support NTXIA membership, we’ve taken stock in our fourth year. With conversations and listening sessions that have led to programs and live feedback - we’ve developed a roadmap to best elevate and provide value for NTXIA membership and the region's future.

1. Focused on Action: Programs that provide opportunities to learn about emerging technologies and solutions, initiatives like our Call for Innovation and Demo Day with Dallas County have proven to bring successful outcomes, and many of you have asked 'when's the next one'? You can be part of that! Additional concepts are in the works as well!

2. Experiential Learning: Getting out of the conference room and into the field provide hands-on opportunities to see and engage with projects firsthand, both within the region, and periodic out of market visits to peers like Peachtree Corners and Atlanta's Partnership for Inclusive Innovation. We are developing a slate of field trip opportunities over the next several months and into 2024. If you have an initiative you'd like to highlight, or a city you'd love to get an immersive visit with, please reach out!

3. Building a Resilient Workforce: The game is changing, as are the skills needed to ensure all students are prepared for future careers, and creating workforce pipelines to support regional corporations. Programs like the Urban Resilience Fellows seeks to take a cross-disciplinary, cross-institution lens to solve pressing challenges, and expose students to opportunities in the public sector. Additionally, rapid upskilling in industries like fiber, 5G and electrification are in research and development to enhance and elevate our trade school and workforce.

4. Regional & Nation-Leading Projects: If not us then who? We like being told an idea is crazy - it's how we know we're on the right track. Through partnerships with peer organizations and cities across the country, we can bring ideas to fruition. If we hear a need that hasn't yet been taken on, we can support moving toward solutions.

5. Promoting NTX Innovation: NTXIA has a mission to accelerate telling the North Texas story around the world. Part of our modus operandi is putting a spotlight on the work being done in the region and we look forward to continuing to amplify.

6. Specialized Workshops & Symposiums: High impact topics require multiple perspectives and deeper dives across the board. A focus on recurring events, whether our 360 Roundtables bringing perspectives on all sides of a topic, such as peer experience, policy, regulatory, technology and workforce; or longer symposiums that bring in the larger community to explore emerging topics like AI, ethics and innovation.
